Here’s a tip for you Dotties as the Mother of All Holidays approaches:  Coleen’s Flower Shop.

Sure, flowers. How original.  Some chrysanthemums for Mum’s Day. Cliched, dying bunch of weeds.  I know, I know.  You already blew your wad on the Estee Lauder cosmetic set with the free gift faux leather tote.

But roll up with a bouquet like the Dottie Hottie got last week?

coleen bouquet

And suddenly big things might start happening.  Just wait.  With that kind of good karma surrounding you, I defy any Boston copper to give you a parking ticket. For any lotto ticket to not net you double. For any gum to be found on your shoe.

Check out Coleen’s (whose newest neighbor is Dot Dogs) and get your orders in for Sunday stat!

Dottie dog owners, have you recently noticed an improvement in your pup’s morale?  Is Fido trotting more proudly, with a greater sense of belonging?  Did Clancey recently woof that there’s no place like home?

The Dottie Hottie wonders if this heightened happiness could be due to the arrival of our new canine-lovin’ neighbor, Dot Dogs!

Owners George and Jessica Greene, parents to a beloved Puggle, said they kept having to flee to Southie for their doggie treat needs.  Other ‘hoods of Boston have caught on — the South End and JP are host to several shops that cater to canines.  Given the expanse of green space that Dorchester offers, the pup/capita, and the imminent launch of the dog park at Ronan Park, the time was more than ripe to launch Dot Dogs.

The shop is still filling its shelves with goodies for your hot dog, but presently offers puppy pedicures, some great looking leashes, a vast array of chew toys and treats, and bathtubs that owners can “rent” to bathe their dogs.

Stop by and make a new friend with your own best friend in tow.

The Dottie Hottie’s greatest fear of going into labor on Patriot’s Day was allayed.  The threat of having to ferret through the crunch of Marathon traffic in order to get to the hospital manifested itself…and the Dottie Hottie considered the feasible ways one might arrive at the hospital (by parachute?  through the MIT tunnels?) but Pee Wee Dottie chose not to appear. Hurrah!  This gave the Dottie Hottie family a chance to check out the excellent puppetry show at the JFK Library, and find a patriotic treat at the Sugar Bowl.

The Dottie Hottie would like to do a bit of apartment advocacy tonight. The following details concern a certain abode of a Dottie Hottie friend who will be letting her apartment, which has been a home to many a festive gathering in all the seasons of Dottie life and Dottie love.

Cheesy sentiments aside, the place really is a steal. A 5 minute walk to the Savin Hill train station. Maybe even 3 minutes if you walk fast. Lovely deck and commodious kitchen. Two bedrooms and the bath is newly updated.

If you would like to view photos, they are available on the Facebook marketplace here.

Apartment available in Savin Hill for $1,200.

The Hahhp and Bahhhd got a facelift. We’re all excited about the new polished look as it elevates Dorchester Ave. to the classy Main Street we all know it is capable of becoming (or restoring once more).

If you haven’t wandered into the new! improved! H&B, let the Dottie Hottie recommend Sunday or Monday evenings for a buffalo wing smorgasbord. The wings - which come in an array of flavors including honey buffalo, buffalo, and barbecue - are a mere $.50/piece on Sunday and Monday nights. They’re not only cheap, but they’re quite meaty and mos def delicious. The Dottie Hottie has been in search of an establishment to offer wings at a reasonable price that would make Buffalo proud. But Boston bars, it seems, are wont to charge much too much for the pint and the poultry. The Harp & Bard gets the recipe just right.

Those with kiddies, here’s a tip - go ’round about 6p on Monday evenings and have the run of the place. If your child is anything like MID (who thinks booths are made for being obnoxious and peeking over at the connecting booth), this time is to your advantage :)

The Dottie Hottie made a donation the other day. Offered up to the garbage can god of Malibu Beach was a pair of Crocs; one part plastic, one part fabric. The pair was irrevocably muddy after attempts to traverse the muddy muddy sandy knoll there by yon water. The Dottie Hottie learned an important lesson: Push the Common Sense Button to the ON position before heading off into the quicksands of Malibu Beach at low tide. You might NOT find yourself with the following:

MID was lucky enough to salvage her muddied shoes. Gracious thanks.

Did you catch the moon last night?  It was full and high, way up in the ether.  It prompted the Dottie Hottie to venture out and see what could be seen under its glow….

These Dot days have been sultry as August tugs its rope toward the end of summer.  But the nights are what we savor, the warm breeze and recognizable pitch of kids out after dark, charged with a freedom that can only be found on a summer night.

The Dottie Hottie family discovered themselves wanting something more than leftover marshmallow Peeps for supper on Easter evening. The fam was collectively craving something substantial, some meat and potatoes, maybe some tasty greens on the side. But who would be open on Easter to provide such fare? And further, who would offer it to go and for not so many Dottie dollars?

A quick call to Patrick at CF Donovans on Savin Hill Ave. answered that question quick smart. A hearty portion of steak tips, garlic mashed, green beans and a side salad was fixed and ready in 20 minutes. The steak tips were outstanding - nicely marinaded and coupled with the mushrooms and peppers? Magnificent medley. The garlic mashed were not super garlicky, but evenly-cooked, and the green beans were superb.

The Dottie Hottie did discover a price discrepancy between the receipt versus the ToGo menu that is on Donovan’s website. However, a quick call to Patrick informed that the ToGo menu was outdated and that Patrick would kindly make it up to Dottie upon the next visit. Good moves, Patrick, good moves.
