So, how was ya fawth, dotties?  Did you find yourself unable to catch your proper zzzz’s due to the explosive din in the ‘hood last night?  The Dottie Hottie retired around midnight last evening and must have been exhausted because sleep came quickly despite the constant snap, crackle and pop of the neighborhood fireworksters which were still going strong well into the early hours….

Today, the DH family finds itself among perhaps 3 other people in all of Dorchester that are not poolside/beachside which makes us capital “L” Loserpants.  We’re just trying to keep cool indoors, get a few chores done, take a few naps on this sultry 5 of July.  We’ve already gone outside (to catch a Frappuccino at Tedeschi’s on Neponset –always so clean and well stocked!) and observed some important signage on the way.

Attention canines.  Not every tree wants to be your tinklepost.  At least this arbor is trying its best to be courteous….

Dottie dog owners, have you recently noticed an improvement in your pup’s morale?  Is Fido trotting more proudly, with a greater sense of belonging?  Did Clancey recently woof that there’s no place like home?

The Dottie Hottie wonders if this heightened happiness could be due to the arrival of our new canine-lovin’ neighbor, Dot Dogs!

Owners George and Jessica Greene, parents to a beloved Puggle, said they kept having to flee to Southie for their doggie treat needs.  Other ‘hoods of Boston have caught on — the South End and JP are host to several shops that cater to canines.  Given the expanse of green space that Dorchester offers, the pup/capita, and the imminent launch of the dog park at Ronan Park, the time was more than ripe to launch Dot Dogs.

The shop is still filling its shelves with goodies for your hot dog, but presently offers puppy pedicures, some great looking leashes, a vast array of chew toys and treats, and bathtubs that owners can “rent” to bathe their dogs.

Stop by and make a new friend with your own best friend in tow.

MID and I were walking a few days ago and came upon a fellow Dottie who was walking his dog.  Let’s call her Pit Bull.  Recognizing Pit Bull, I asked the dog walking Dottie wherefore he did not shuzzle a muzzle on to that pooch’s face.  The dog walker immediately charged into his reasonings for not muzzling his pup.  He explained that his dog would never go after anyone.  And he had just taken her to the beach in Savin Hill, and on such a hot day, what dog would want to be muzzled?

Which caused me to think, No dog!

Which then caused me to think, But it’s not up to the dog!

Which then caused me to poll you…

My fellow Dottie the dog walker said that he appreciated my concern about his dog, but that he was willing to pay the fine - which he believed to be around $100 for having a pit bull go unmuzzled - as a means of protesting the city ordinance (which the City of Boston does a great job of spelling correctly on its website).

What say you all to this means of protest?  Pity the pit bull?
