Wandering through Dorchester Open Studios this past weekend (post forthcoming), the Dottie Hottie contemplated the following thought and suspects it’s one held by many. Do you ever think Dorchester is its own large open studio, with its errant paint splashes and scraps of paper on the floor, but at the heart of it, there’s some gorgeous art being made? Do you ever find yourself mining the beauty of Dorchester because it’s not always so plain and evident to the naked eye?
Maybe we’re not a well-manicured Back Bay boulevard. Maybe we’re not a breezy South End cafe. Maybe we’re not a funky Cambridge tavern. Maybe we’re not a grassroots JP non-profit. But we’ve got our own Dottie beauty. And we’re awfully proud of it, too.
Sometimes you just have to look a bit closer, work a little harder, love a little deeper….

It’s a frigid night and you’ve just eaten the last McBudget Nuggets in the freezer. The other rations are low, but eating out simply won’t jive with the wallet. And anyway, eating out with friends is great, but all you end up doing is bellyachin’ about the economy. Which gives you a stomach ache, frankly.
Enter: Mrs. Jones.
The Dottie Hottie recently hosted the out-of-town parents. For under $40, Dottie Hottie and Dottie Biker, as well as the Mid-Western Parents went not hungry. Rather, they all enjoyed finger lickin’ chicken, corn bread, black eyed peas, collard greens, mashed taters, green beans, and some other tasty treats which they all shared — and not to mention the satisfaction of feeding the soul, too, which is what the comfort of soul food tends to do.
And just for the record, Mrs. Jones’ fried chicken definitely kicks the poor colonel to the curb.
Mrs. Jones prepares stick-to-your-ribs fare, and the Dottie Hottie gives Mrs. J & Co. the highest of ratings. A Dottie Hottie Huzzah!

Do you have yours yet? Your slick ONEinTHREE BOSTON bracelet? If not, you’ve got to come out and be a part of the Dorchester representation.

We had a fantastic time at the Ashmont Grill last week. Big ups to the AG staff for keeping our glasses filled and the Red Sox game score updated. Thanks also for the warm welcome from the OneinThree team - the Dottie Hottie was impressed and has high hopes for the U-35ers in Dot.
To get involved…

Polling our readers for Dottie Hottie personal purposes here…
We’ve got some visitors coming to town who’d like to attend a Catholic mass on Sunday morning. Do the Catholic Dotties among us recommend a particular church that is especially welcoming? The Dottie Hottie understands that churches are not restaurants, and atmospheres should not be gauged as such, but certainly you will agree that every church has a different spirit about it (in addition to the Holy Spirit that dwells therein, no?).
Blessings and thanks in advance,
The Dottie Hottie & Co.
