What’s better than an independently owned coffee shop and a locally owned back operating in Dorchester?

::Dottie Hottie raises hand::

Both of them operating under one roof!!

If you haven’t visited the new Flat Black/Wainwright Bank location at Ashmont (in the Carruth Building) for your checking and chai combo, let the Dottie Hottie recommend you consider opening an account at Wainwright today. Judene Williams, assistant branch manager assisted the Dottie Hottie in doing so today. And for the pittance that the Dottie Hottie invested (turns out Google ads aren’t netting all that much for this site these days), look at all the loot that was received!

And who doesn’t like free loot? Even if all of the stuff was made in China, at least it’s from a local bank that emphasizes social justice, and which cares about the environment (see: reusable shopping bag which also included an energy conserving lightbulb).

But there’s more. Get a free medium beverage at Flat Black (just turn the corner from the ATMs and salute those handsome baristas — Shane, Sarah, Jeff - howdy!) for opening an account at Wainwright. Tell me that’s not at least one good thing going for us all in this woeful economy.

A belated happy new year to you all. The Dottie Hottie has been traveling and contending with dead car batteries and heaps of snow and blogging about the beloved ‘hood fell to the wayside. But it’s time to revisit all the great things about Dot and to further the love as we enter a whole new era of hope and change and service. President Obama took his oath yesterday, and the Dottie Hottie was moved. Especially knowing that MID was sleeping in the next room: MID, the bi-racial child of an immigrant who will grow up with her president sharing a similar profile. Isn’t it amazing, Dotties?

What did you do yesterday to usher in the new era?

Below: Obama showed up at Tavolo! He just loves those flatbread pizzas!
